Step-by-Step Admission Procedure

1. Initial Screening

Candidates are required to submit the following documents for eligibility verification:

  1. 10th & 12th Marksheet
  2. Last Qualification Marksheet

  4. Age Proof
  5. Passport Size Photograph

Modes of Entry into Merchant Navy

1. Admission Through Entrance Exams & Merit

For technical maritime programs:

  • Candidates may need to appear for IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test).
  • Some institutes also offer admission based on 12th standard merit (as per eligibility criteria).

2. Sponsorship-Based Entry

Candidates may also apply for sponsorship programs offered by maritime institutes or shipping companies. Sponsorship opportunities are typically provided by shipping companies to candidates who successfully complete their approved training programs.

3. Lateral Entry (LE) into 2nd Year Marine Engineering

Direct admission into the second year of Marine Engineering is possible under specific eligibility conditions:

  • Completion of first year of Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) with a minimum 60% mark
  • Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Marine / Shipbuilding Engineering with minimum 60% aggregate marks

Eligibility is subject to maritime regulations and institutional guidelines.
